This is not for the faint-hearted. This is the big league. The "Deep South" and the famous "Golden Triangle" (BDE) represent the wild, untamed side of the Red Sea. Here, the reefs are healthier, the walls are steeper, and the fish are... much, much bigger.
The Big Three (BDE):
-
The Brothers (El Akhawein): Two pinnacles rising from the depths in the middle of nowhere. Famous for: Shipwrecks (Aida & Numidia) and shark action (Oceanic Whitetips & Hammerheads).
-
Daedalus Reef: A massive remote reef with a lighthouse. It is the place to spot schooling Hammerhead sharks patrolling the deep blue.
-
Elphinstone: A cigar-shaped reef near Marsa Alam. Known for its currents and the legendary “Longimanus” (Oceanic Whitetip) encounters under the boat.
Who is it for?
-
Level: Strictly Advanced Divers (AOWD + 50 dives minimum).
-
Vibe: Deep blue water, strong currents, and high-voltage shark encounters.
