Booking a spa treatment in a new country can come with a lot of questions. What's the dress code? How much should I tip? Is it okay for men and women together?
At Mega Adventures, we want you to feel completely comfortable and relaxed from the moment you book until you leave the spa glowing. Here are honest answers to the most common questions we get asked about spa experiences in Hurghada.
Q1: What should I wear to the spa/hammam?
For Treatments: You will usually be provided with disposable underwear or you can wear your own bikini/swim briefs. During massages and scrubs, therapists are trained to use “draping” techniques with towels to ensure your privacy and modesty are protected at all times.
For Communal Areas: In saunas or steam rooms, a swimsuit or a towel wrap is appropriate.
Tip: It’s best to arrive in loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to change in and out of.
Q2: Are hammams mixed-gender or separated?
Most large, reputable spas in Hurghada offer separate times or sections for men and women, especially for the traditional Turkish Hammam ritual. This ensures everyone feels comfortable.
However, for private couples’ packages, you will have a private suite together. Always confirm when booking if you have a preference.
Q3: Are the therapists male or female?
Generally, female clients are treated by female therapists, and male clients by male therapists, especially for body scrubs and hammams.
For oil massages, some spas may have male therapists for female clients (and vice versa), but you can always request a therapist of the same gender when you book. Your comfort is the priority.
Q4: How much does a spa treatment cost in Hurghada? (2025 Estimates)
Prices vary wildly depending on the luxury level of the spa.
Standard Turkish Hammam (approx. 60-90 mins): Can range from $30 to $60 USD.
Full Body Massage (60 mins): Can range from $40 to $80 USD.
VIP Packages (2-3 hours): Can range from $80 to $150+ USD.
Note: Booking online with us often secures a better price than walking into a hotel spa.
Q5: Should I tip? How much?
Tipping is not mandatory but is customary and highly appreciated in Egypt if you enjoyed the service.
Guideline: A tip of around 10% to 15% of the treatment cost for your therapist is considered generous and appropriate. You can give it directly to them or leave it at the reception.
Q6: Can I go to the spa if I’m sunburnt?
Avoid: Avoid scrubs (kese), hot steam rooms, and saunas, as these will irritate sunburnt skin further.
Recommended: Opt for a gentle, cooling treatment like an Aloe Vera wrap or a very gentle moisturizing massage to soothe the skin. Always inform your therapist about your sunburn.
